I've been fortunate to work student and work for multiple international riders - Lynda Alicki, Heather Blitz, and Steffen Peters - and have been very fortunate to still work with my favorite coach, Conrad Schumacher whom I met during my Young Rider years. I competed in the NAYRC in 2001, qualified again in 2003, and then represented the United States as one of two riders in the nation in the Prix St. George Derby at the 2005 CDI*** Sydney, Australia. I've earned my USDF Bronze and Silver medals on an FEI schoolmaster that I fully retrained as a Young Rider and my Gold medal on a Friesian mare I developed since 4 years old all the way to Grand Prix. That same mare won All-Breeds awards, and some pretty good finishes at Regionals that resulted in multiple trips to the US Dressage Finals and an international small tour career.
Seeing the positive change and growth in horses is the most rewarding part of training. I've brought nervous and abused jumpers to the FEI level, restored horses' confidence and trust in riders, rehabbed kissing spine horses back to sport careers, and turned a Friesian I bought for $1 into an international small tour competitor and a national Grand Prix horse. My favorite part of training however, is developing young horses from the beginning. I grew up on a successful small breeding farm that turned out many a champion KWPN sporthorse, and was fully immersed in raising these athletes from haltering and leading, to riding down centerline and/or entering the jump ring.
The most important part of this About Me section, is that I have been and always will be an advocate for the horse. Their physical and mental well-being is my highest priority. I understand that riders have goals, but those can't happen without a willing partner. The horse's need for a happy and positive mindset is crucial for success in training and in competition.
